A Beast of Reincarnation build combines Emma’s direct actions, Koo’s command techniques, skill-tree choices, a katana for Emma, a Charm for Koo, and Spirit Stones whose effects respond to combat behavior. The official Store explicitly names ranged, stealthy, and aggressive loadouts. It does not publish a final tree, respec rule, complete equipment database, or numeric best build before release.

Use the Emma build guide to turn the confirmed systems into a first allocation plan. This hub explains what belongs in a build, how the parts interact, and which claims require the public default branch before they can be ranked.

A build begins with a behavior, not an item name

Choose what you want to do repeatedly in a fight. An aggressive plan stays close enough to pressure enemies and attempts more parries, which can generate FP for Koo. A ranged plan uses distance to answer flying or dangerous targets and needs a way to convert safety into progress. A stealthy plan uses traversal and elevation to remove or weaken a threat before open combat.

Those are first-party playstyle categories, not three locked classes. The Store describes them as loadout directions, and preview coverage shows that Emma can mix katana action, a long-range weapon, plant-vine movement, and falling assassination. The final game may let one loadout move between them. A useful build therefore states its dominant behavior and its fallback instead of claiming that a marketing label fixes every slot.

For example, “parry-led close pressure with Koo as the tactical reset” is more actionable than “aggressive.” It identifies how FP is generated, when Koo enters the loop, and what the build needs when the player loses momentum. The exact nodes and gear can then support that plan.

Emma and Koo have different build jobs

Emma performs real-time sword actions, defense, movement, and ranged or stealth interactions. Koo’s Bloom Arts are selected through a slowed command menu and spend FP restored by Emma’s parries. Building the pair means deciding how Emma creates resources and openings, then choosing Koo techniques that solve the problems her chosen approach leaves behind.

An Emma-heavy close-range plan may value reliable FP generation and a Bloom Art that controls a crowded field. A cautious ranged plan may use Koo to create a safe conversion window. A stealth opener may still need a stable open-combat response after enemies become alert. These are decision relationships supported by the core system, not claims about unreleased ability names.

Avoid evaluating Koo as an isolated damage chart. The time-slowed menu is designed for tactical selection. The best Art in one moment can be the one that protects Emma’s position or completes a Down opening, even if another ability has a larger unverified damage number.

Skill trees and captured powers

The Store confirms skill trees as a central customization system. RPGamer’s report on the official combat trailer says Emma gains techniques from a skill tree and new Bloom Arts come from defeating bosses. GAME FREAK’s world explanation says Nushi powers lead to respective skills for Emma and Koo. Together, these sources establish progression without revealing a complete allocation map.

Before recommending a route, the public build must answer:

  • whether Emma and Koo use separate point pools;
  • which nodes are prerequisites, upgrades, or mutually exclusive;
  • when points are earned and whether all nodes can eventually be unlocked;
  • whether respec exists, what it costs, and what it refunds;
  • which skills come from normal progression versus captured boss power;
  • whether a node’s effect differs by difficulty, weapon, Charm, or Spirit Stone.

Until those fields exist, a named “best first ten points” would be invented. The current build guidance instead connects verified actions to the choices players can inspect at launch.

Gear belongs to the build but is not the build

First-party material names new katanas for Emma and Charms for Koo, discovered through exploration, with specialized bonuses. Spirit Stones add effects based on actions during battle. These pieces can reinforce the chosen behavior: an effect triggered by a frequently performed action is more dependable than one tied to a situation the build rarely creates.

The Gear hub owns the lookup question—what an item is, where it comes from, what slot it uses, and what its live effect says. Builds own the relationship question—why that effect supports a specific combat plan and what tradeoff it introduces. Keeping those intents separate prevents an item database from becoming a disguised tier list.

Edition bonuses such as the Big Dipper sword must also be evaluated by their actual public-build description. Inclusion in Deluxe proves entitlement, not superiority. No reliable first-party stat line was public at the checkpoint.

Three evidence-backed planning directions

Close pressure with frequent tactical pauses

Use Emma’s katana and defense to remain engaged, treating successful parries as the source for Koo’s next Bloom Art. The plan needs a recovery response for failed timing and a way to manage multiple enemies. It should be tested against both health damage and Down buildup rather than judged on a single short encounter.

Ranged control with a safe conversion

Hands-on coverage confirms a long-range option useful against flying creatures, and the Store names ranged loadouts. A full ranged build still needs evidence for ammunition, limits, skill interactions, and boss viability. The planning question is how distance produces a meaningful opening rather than simply delaying the fight.

Stealth entry followed by open combat

Official and hands-on material shows vine traversal and falling assassination from above. A stealth plan can change the opening composition, especially around elevation. It must also state what happens when a target survives or other enemies notice Emma; Koo’s command support may supply that transition.

These directions can overlap. The public skill and equipment screens will determine whether a hybrid preserves enough synergy or spreads scarce investment too widely.

How to evaluate a build after launch

Choose one repeatable encounter and record the build’s actual purpose. For a parry-oriented setup, note successful parries, FP availability, Bloom Arts used, Down openings, damage taken, and completion time. For ranged or stealth play, add detection state, target access, and the point at which the encounter moved into melee.

Change one component at a time: a skill node, katana, Charm, Spirit Stone, or Bloom Art selection. If several parts change together, the result cannot identify which choice helped. Repeat on more than one enemy type and one boss before calling the setup broadly useful.

Patch scope matters. Record the visible semantic version when the game provides one, the default public branch, difficulty, platform, and check date. A Steam depot BuildID can identify a test environment but is not a replacement for a player-facing version label.

Build claims intentionally not made

No route here claims a highest-damage katana, mandatory Spirit Stone, optimal FP loop, universal Koo Art, complete skill tree, free respec, or launch-day meta. The official material supports the systems and playstyle axes, while exact allocations remain unresolved.

That does not make the section empty. Players can already understand the components, choose a behavior-led plan, distinguish Emma’s responsibilities from Koo’s, avoid mistaking Deluxe entitlement for power, and use a controlled method to evaluate the final nodes. The Emma build guide is the first practical application.

Sources and verification

Build boundaries were verified on 2026-08-01 through the Steam Store description, GAME FREAK director Kota Furushima’s Developer_Direct article, the official combat coverage summarized by RPGamer, and Game Informer’s hands-on report. Detailed allocations, respec behavior, numeric effects, and item rankings await the public Steam branch.
