Parrying in Beast of Reincarnation is both defense and resource generation. When Emma lands a successful parry, she gains FP for Koo’s Bloom Arts. That means the result should be judged by three visible outcomes: the attack was answered, FP changed, and the duo gained a new tactical option. The final Windows Steam build must establish the exact input, visual cue, timing window, and which attacks accept that response.

Read the attacker before watching the button
Start with the enemy’s body and weapon rather than the input icon. Identify a stable sequence: preparation, commitment, impact, and recovery. The important cue may be motion, sound, or an effect, and different attack families can use different rhythms. Keep the camera where the source of the next hit is visible; a theoretically correct input cannot answer an off-screen strike reliably.
On the first attempts, defend conservatively enough to observe what the game labels as block, hit, or parry. Do not assume every red flash or heavy wind-up means “unparryable” until the tutorial or live feedback defines it. A guide should record the exact enemy and move instead of turning one exception into a universal rule.
Use Story difficulty to learn feedback
Story mode is officially described as reducing enemy damage and making parry timing more forgiving. It is therefore the confirmed setting for learning the feedback loop. Practice until you can distinguish a successful parry from a normal block and can see the FP result. Then decide whether to move to Normal or Hard for narrower pressure.
Difficulty-specific timing must be measured separately. If Story feels easier, that supports the official description but does not reveal the number of added frames. When comparing, keep the enemy, position, equipment, display mode, and active skills unchanged. A different animation angle or performance state can distort a timing impression.
Convert the success instead of celebrating it
FP exists to be spent by Koo. After a parry, ask whether the current FP enables a Bloom Art that solves the encounter. Koo’s command menu slows the battle, giving space to choose. The correct conversion could be control, damage, help toward Down, or a chance to reset positioning.
Do not open the menu automatically after every success. Emma may first need to leave danger or finish reading a multi-hit sequence. An enemy can continue attacking after the first contact, and the final game decides whether consecutive hits require separate defenses. Treat the parry as the opening of a decision, not the end of an exchange.
Diagnose early and late attempts
Use a small sample of one recognizable move. If the game gives an ordinary guard result, the defense may have been held or entered outside the parry window. If Emma is hit before the intended cue, the input may be late. If she acts before impact and then gets struck, it may be early. Those interpretations remain subject to the actual tutorial and animation rules.
Avoid changing graphics options, controller, distance, and timing all at once. First confirm stable performance. Then make one timing adjustment across several attempts. Record successful parries, ordinary blocks, hits, and no-response events. A repeatable pattern matters more than an isolated lucky result.
Account for spacing and multiple enemies
Parry practice is easiest with one visible attacker. In a group, target selection and camera placement can matter more than raw timing. Move so threats occupy a manageable arc, then answer the earliest committed strike. If Koo has a control-oriented Bloom Art available, FP from a clean defense can help reduce the group pressure.
Range also changes the read. An attack may track, lunge, or miss depending on Emma’s position. Do not label a miss as a successful defensive technique. The result should include the game’s own parry feedback and FP change.
Record parry facts that survive updates
A useful test note contains the visible version or Steam build context, difficulty, enemy and move, input device, frame-rate state, active weapon, skills, Spirit Stones, and any Charm effect. Record whether FP increased and whether the effect was altered by equipment. This lets later players reproduce the condition after a balance update.
Exact frames require frame-by-frame capture with a known rendering rate and input limitations; even then they describe the tested build, not a permanent law. For ordinary play, the animation cue and consistent outcome are more actionable.
