A Koo build is a command plan, not a separate character class. Emma creates FP through successful parries; Koo spends it on Bloom Arts selected while combat is slowed. Official material also says Koo equips Charms with specialized bonuses and obtains powers after Nushi victories. Build him around a repeatable job that Emma’s chosen approach needs.
Exact Art names, costs, Charm effects, unlock order, and upgrade rules require the public Steam build. The method below lets those final descriptions produce a coherent setup without a fabricated pre-launch tier list.
Give Koo one primary responsibility
Choose control, Down support, damage conversion, or tactical recovery as the first responsibility. A control setup helps Emma manage several threats. A Down setup accelerates or exploits the vulnerable state. A damage setup spends openings efficiently. A recovery-oriented setup creates room when Emma’s pressure breaks down.
The role should answer a real weakness. If Emma already clears ordinary enemies safely at range, more area control may be less important than a boss option. If an aggressive katana route reaches targets easily but struggles with interruptions, control can keep the core plan intact.
Match Art costs to Emma’s parry rate
Count how often Emma lands confirmed parries in relevant encounters and how much FP the live game grants. Then compare that supply with Bloom Art costs. A command that requires several clean defenses cannot be treated as always available. A cheaper Art may support more frequent decisions even if its single use looks less dramatic.
Keep a reserve only for a named likely need. Hoarding the full bar through every encounter wastes Koo’s contribution, while spending on cooldown can leave no answer during a dangerous phase. The useful rhythm is generation, deliberate command, Emma conversion, and review.
Select a Charm by trigger and result
Official material identifies Charms as Koo’s specialized equipment. Read the final description as a condition and an outcome. Ask whether the build activates the condition, whether the effect improves the primary responsibility, and whether another Charm covers a more frequent situation.
Do not infer a Charm’s power from its art, rarity color, or story connection. Record its exact wording, acquisition point, and tested version. If it changes an FP cost, Art effect, cooldown-like behavior, or target rule, test with the same Art and enemy before and after equipping it.
Integrate captured Nushi powers
When a Nushi victory grants Koo a power, capture the reward screen before slotting it. Determine whether the power is itself a Bloom Art, unlocks one, or modifies another system. Add it only if its observed job improves the build or provides a needed alternate.
A later unlock is not automatically stronger. It may trade range for Down, single-target force for group control, or low cost for a larger commitment. Compare by encounter role and FP efficiency. Keep spoiler-heavy boss names out of general build summaries when the mechanical description is enough.
Coordinate Koo with three Emma styles
Aggressive Emma spends more time near danger and may generate FP frequently through close parries. Koo can protect continued pressure or create a Down conversion at that range. Ranged Emma may need an Art that holds targets in reach or provides a safe route into the payoff. Stealth Emma needs a command plan for the moment an opening assassination fails and multiple enemies react.
These are starting hypotheses, not locked classes. The same save can reveal equipment and skills that blend them. Update Koo’s role when Emma’s reliable action changes rather than preserving an early setup only because points were spent nearby.
Test the whole duo, not an isolated animation
Run the same ordinary group and durable target with fixed difficulty and Emma equipment. Record successful parries, FP generated, each Art used, its stated purpose, whether that purpose happened, Down openings converted, and damage taken. Koo is contributing when his commands make the overall plan more consistent.
An Art can score high damage yet fail the build because its cost leaves no response later. Another can deal little direct damage but prevent an interruption that lets Emma complete a much larger conversion. Keep those effects in different columns instead of reducing everything to one number.
Know when the problem is not the Koo build
If FP is always empty, inspect Emma’s defense and the actual generation rule before changing Charms. If Arts land but Down openings expire, fix positioning. If the command menu opens on the wrong threat, improve target and camera control. If the setup succeeds against groups but fails against a boss, add a situational alternative instead of declaring every component weak.
Also verify the active difficulty and version. Story’s wider parry timing can change resource access. A balance update can change costs or effects. Koo build advice without that scope is incomplete.
Koo’s confirmed mechanical foundation
The duo resource loop and slowed command system come from the Steam Store and Kota Furushima’s Developer_Direct article. The official combat overview supplies FP and Bloom Arts terminology. Publisher material establishes specialized Charms and powers gained from defeated Nushi. The live build remains required for loadout slots, names, costs, stacking, and upgrade paths.
